About Aaron

Born on October 14, 1981 in Lemoore, CA, Aaron Burnett began studying classical saxophone at the age of 9 and became interested in jazz performance at UNC Greensboro from 1999-2001, then he studied at Berklee College of Music for classical composition from 2005-2008, graduating with a degree in Professional Music.

 

Shortly after graduating from Berklee, Aaron toured in Esperanza Spalding's Radio Music Society from 2012-2013 performing on Jay Leno, David Letterman, The Daily Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and in 49 countries around the world.  After moving to Brooklyn, NY, Aaron also received the Jerome Foundation Emerging Artist Grant in 2015, and has also received multiple additional grants and residencies at Roulette Intermedium in Brooklyn.  Aaron has since been awarded 2 Grammy certificates for his contributions and feature on Spalding's Grammy winning album "12 Little Spells" and 2021 album "Apothecary Song Wright's Lab".  He has also performed with many other great musicians such as Vijay Iyer, Teri Lyne Carrington, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Jeff Tain Watts, Ravi Coltrane, Joss Stone, Corrine Bailey Rae, and more.  

 

Aaron Burnett also has released 5 albums, "I Thoth So" on Truth Revolution Records followed by 2018's "Anomaly", and 2020's Jupiter Conjunct, the latter two of which were both released by Fresh Sound Records.  "Anomaly" received a 3.5 star rating from DownBeat Magazine while "Jupiter Conjunct '' with Esperanza Spalding as a guest received a 4 star review in Jazziz Magazine.  Constant creative expansion is a mantra of Aaron's and we can look forward to continued innovation and musical creativity through his work.
